Data and analytics trends and directions 2021
We’re all familiar with Darwin’s greatest discovery, “the natural selection of small, inherited variations that increase an individual’s ability to compete.” The future of data is Darwin’s survival of the fittest theory at light speed.
Staying competitive depends on the “variations” or advantages you gain not by deploying data and analytics – but by deploying better than your peers. That’s because, as our first Data and Analytics Trends and Directions study has confirmed, virtually everyone’s doing data-driven digital transformation. How innovative you are will be what counts, and innovation will depend on well-managed data that is readily accessible to everyone who needs it to deliver fresh insights.
To find out where companies are today, we asked the people who live and breathe data and analytics day in and day out to talk data to us. Specifically, we asked 150 data and analytics leaders across 12 industries 20 questions about how their organizations are managing data, using data strategically, and providing analytics tools to business users today. We also asked them to talk about what their requirements will be in the not-so-distant future.
Talk they did. We present the results of our first Data and Analytics Trends and Directions study here.
